Why I Became a Celebrant
I have worked in the NHS and healthcare sector for over 40 years and am a qualified nurse. My skills and experience align with the qualities needed to be an empathetic, compassionate, and understanding celebrant. I am also able to bring a sense of light-heartedness and warmth when crafting the perfect ceremony.
I am guided by your wishes and expectations. Together, we will create a ceremony that reflects your personal story and values. We will discuss all the meaningful elements you wish to include during our meetings, which can be held in your home or a place of your choice.
My Style
I have an open and friendly personality, bringing a wealth of life experience and professional expertise to my role as a celebrant. It is important to me that you feel comfortable and confident in choosing the right celebrant for you—someone you can trust.
For funerals, I work closely with your funeral director, crematorium, or cemetery to ensure everything runs smoothly and professionally. My goal is to create a safe, respectful, and heartfelt ceremony.
I can provide guidance on how the ceremony will flow and suggest elements to include, such as eulogies, prayers, music, hymns, poetry, personal stories, and even moments of appropriate humour.
For weddings, vow renewals, baby naming ceremonies, and other lifetime celebrations, the sky is the limit! Together, we can design a ceremony filled with love, fun, elegance, and a sprinkle of your unique magic.
I completed my celebrant training with The Academy of Professional Celebrants who have a Code of Ethics which I will follow.
Professional Background
I am the owner of CK Celebrants, a Limited Company registered since 2007, offering healthcare consultancy services. Following my redundancy from the NHS in 2024, I sought a career where I could continue to utilise the skills I’ve gained over my professional life. Now semi-retired, I’ve chosen to embrace the celebrant profession, combining my love for working with people and my desire to support them during life’s most significant moments.
Experience and Skills
- Speaking at Ceremonies: I’ve delivered heartfelt speeches at funerals and weddings for family and friends.
- Funeral Organisation: I’ve supported families in organising funerals and have personally managed several myself.
- Wedding Design: I love weddings and would be delighted to help couples create their dream ceremony – as long as it’s legal, of course!
- Cultural Awareness: My international work and personal travels have given me a deep understanding of different cultures, traditions, and lifestyles.
